Recently, the 2023 International Congress of Endovascular Surgery (CICE) was held in Brazil, and Shanghai MicroPort Endovascular MedTech (Group) Co., Ltd. (Endovastec™) was invited to participate, set up an exhibition booth, and welcome domestic and international experts to participate in academic discussions.

CICE originated in Brazil and is one of the internationally renowned vascular surgery conferences that has a significant influence in the industry. The CICE conference focuses on endovascular surgical treatment, covering various cutting-edge application fields, unmet clinical needs, and relevant endovascular discussion topics.

At this conference, Endovastec™ set up an exclusive booth showcasing a range of innovative products for aortic and peripheral vascular interventions, including the Castor™ Branched Aortic Stent-Graft System (Castor™ Branched Stent System), the Minos™ Abdominal Aortic Stent-Graft and Delivery System (Minos™ Stent-Graft System), the Talos™ Thoracic Aortic Stent-Graft System, and the Reewarm® PTX Drug Coated Balloon PTA Catheter. These products piqued the interest of numerous attendees, encouraging communication and an exchange of information.

In the academic session on aortic arch reconstruction, Professor Shu Chang, Director of the Vascular Surgery Department at Beijing Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, shared his strategies and techniques in endovascular treatment of the aortic arch. He demonstrated the application of the chimney technique, fenestration technique, and branch stent implantation. Professor Stefano Bonvini shared his experience in using custom-made stent grafts, in Italy, to solve the problem of branch reconstruction in the aortic arch, stating that, "The Castor™ Branched Stent System is a useful product. Compared to open surgery and hybrid procedures, endovascular repair of the branches of the arch have the overall advantages of being minimally invasive, having a shorter operation time, and having faster postoperative recovery. The Castor™ Branched Stent System has an integrated design with a seamless connection between the main body and branch stent, adapting to various arch anatomies and reducing surgical trauma."

Endovastec™ collaborated with Dante Pazzanese Institute in São Paulo, and Professor Shu Chang, along with Dr. Antonio Massamitsu Kambara and Professor Samuel Martins Moreira from the Institute's Vascular Surgery department, successfully performed a live surgery using the Castor™ Branched Stent System to treat a standard case of aortic dissection involving the left subclavian artery (LSA). Professor Shu Chang demonstrated the clinical operation techniques of the Castor™ Branched Stent System using a step-by-step process. The patient, who was a male, had the dissection involving the LSA shown on preoperative angiography, with an insufficient proximal landing zone. The Castor™ Branched Stent System was selected to reconstruct the LSA while expanding the proximal landing zone forward. An immediate postoperative angiography showed effective sealing of the dissection entry and smooth blood flow, indicating a successful surgery.

During the CICE conference, Endovastec™, in collaboration with its Brazilian partners, organized two workshops. During the first workshop, doctors from Oswaldo Cruz Hospital, São Paulo, and Endovastec™ jointly discussed the design features of the Castor™ Branched Stent System, clinical research data, key operational points in clinical use, as well as the importance of learning curves and accumulated experience. The second workshop welcomed over 30 young and middle-aged local doctors, where Professor Marcos Cury and Professor Samuel Moreira, from Brazil, shared cases and experiences of using the Minos™ Stent-Graft System and the Castor™ Branched Stent System. These Professors engaging in in-depth exchanges with the attending doctors and experts.

South America is one of the regional pioneers of endovascular surgery, and Endovastec™ has had the honor of being invited to participate in the CICE conference for several consecutive years. Since the introduction of Endovastec™'s innovative products at the CICE conference, such as the Castor™ Branched Stent System and the Minos™ Stent-Graft System, these products have gained increasing attention from the South American vascular surgery community. In the future, Endovastec™ will continue to dedicate itself to promoting more high-quality, innovative products for aortic and peripheral vascular interventions to more regions worldwide, benefiting a larger number of patients with circulatory diseases globally.
